Texas Holdem Rules

Texas Holdem is the most well-known and most played poker game. In this section we will give you a brief overview of the most important rules of Texas Holdem.

Getting Started

One player acts like the dealer, this position is called the button. This position rotates clockwise after every hand.

Every player receives two cards faced down from the dealer. These are called hole cards.

Texas Holdem has four betting rounds. (With a maximum of 3 reraises.)

  • After the first betting round the flop is shown. This are the first 3 community cards.
  • After the second betting round the turn is shown. This is the fourth community card.
  • After the third betting round the river is shown. This is the final community card.
  • After the river the last bettinground begins, followed up by the showdown.
  • After every bettinground the first remaining player on the left of the dealer must start.
  • The player who can make the best combination of 5 cards, hole cards combined with the community cards, wins the hand.
